Frankie manages to transform from geeky girl, to attractive young woman in the summer between her freshman and sophomore years at Alabaster Prep. This change attracts the attention of senior, Matthew, who also happens to be a member of an all-boys secret society. Frankie doesn't accept, this exclusion, however, and makes plans to infiltrate. Lockhart provides the reader with a empowered female hero who seeks change and stirs up trouble in the process.
